As Wedding DJ’s we notice the change in trends every year and 2012 was no exception, but what about 2013? Some couples have put off getting married this year for superstitious reasons but should you let that get in the way of your special day? Having said that, if you decided to tie the knot on Friday 13th of September 2013, at 13:13 that might make you panic a bit though!
Last year, we noticed a large increase in couples going for a hog roast at their wedding breakfast and cup cakes instead of a traditional cake – sounds good to me! Similarly we attended a greater number of marquee weddings.
This year however, you may want to consider going green, by that, I don’t mean a green colour theme but rather an environmentally-friendly wedding. According to greenbrideguide.com there are a number of things we could consider: recycled, plantable, or tree-free papers, or even sustainably harvested wood-veneers on which to print your invites. Think organic when it comes beauty products or, if you have the time, DIY weddings are fantastic and can involve your family and friends!
The entertainment will continue to play a large part in your wedding day and using a local disco supplier will cut down on the travel – which in turn will help minimise impact on the environment. Similarly, DJs who have invested in modern equipment will be using LED lights which use much less power than the traditional bulb lights. Generally speaking, the newer the equipment a DJ uses, the more efficient that equipment will be.
