Wedding Entertainment Budget

How much does a Wedding DJ cost? How much should we allow for the Entertainment Budget at our Wedding?

Wedding Entertainment Costs

Your Wedding Day should be perfect and if budget were no object, you would be free to plan your ideal day without any financial constraints. However much money you’ve managed to save though, there are always compromises which have to be made and cut backs in certain areas.

Wedding Entertainment seems to be one of the main areas where couples choose to compromise and try to save some money. Here at the Live Events Group, we frequently hear from Brides and Grooms who have little, or no, money left for the Wedding Disco and DJ.

According to research by Hitched in 2011, the average amount spent on a wedding day was £12,059 and of that, an average of £490 was spent on entertainment. This equates to just 4%.

Yet if we compare the timings for a wedding day*, evening entertainment accounts for almost two thirds of the entire wedding: 62.5%.

So it’s 62% of the day but only 4% of the budget. With this huge imbalance in mind, perhaps couples should consider investing more money into the entertainment… even just 1 or 2% more? As I mentioned previously, we are all restricted financially at some point but it’s a choice as to how you divide your spending.

For days, weeks, months and even years after, guests are often able to recall what a great time they had dancing at a wedding disco but do they remember the Favours left on the table or the number of balloons decorating the venue? If you only have a limited ‘pot’ of money, think wisely about how you will use it and which aspects of the wedding are worth more investment than others.

As with all areas of your Wedding, it is your choice how you decide to spend your budget and each individual will have their own preferences but when you look at the timings of a wedding day and compare the amount spent on each aspect, it becomes clear that entertainment has been seen for too long as the area to compromise.

Here at the Live Events Group, we offer realistic and affordable prices and we’re not as expensive as you might think. Why not contact us and we’ll get back to you with a free, no obligation quote.
